Aidan Rowsome killed in light aircraft crash
Video-based safety programme specialist SmartDrive Systems has announced the death of Aidan Rowsome, vice president of EMEA - Head of European Operations - following a light aircraft accident on Friday, June 14 2019.
He joined SmartDrive in August 2015, bringing with him 25 years of experience working in high-tech, specialising in SaaS-based business solutions in fleet and risk management.
An industry expert, he was instrumental in growing SmartDrive’s presence and customer base throughout Europe, overseeing all aspects of the company’s sales and service throughout the region.
SmartDrive says he was a trusted and valued colleague, who was a highly motivated professional with a knack for building relationships with key stakeholders and mentoring high performing teams.
“Nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a colleague and friend,” says Steve Mitgang, CEO of SmartDrive Systems. “Charismatic and funny, Aidan Rowsome was an exceptional leader, trusted colleague and industry expert, known for always anticipating key trends in the industry.
“We are grateful at SmartDrive for having had the opportunity to work alongside such an incredible person like Aidan and he will be sorely missed. Our hearts and prayers are with his family at this time.”
Prior to joining SmartDrive, Rowsome held senior roles at Unity, GreenRoad, RAC, Northcore Technologies, Telus and Quarterdeck.
He is survived by his wife and young daughter. SmartDrive says its first priority is to support Aidan’s family during this difficult time, whilst maintaining business continuity for its EMEA customer base.
