Eminox strikes gold at regional manufacturing awards

Gainsborough-based Eminox struck gold at the regional heats of a major national manufacturing awards programme organised by Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation.

The awards, which recognise excellence among manufacturing companies in six categories, as well as two Apprentice categories, were presented at the Midlands and East annual dinner of Make UK, was sponsored by Japanese IT solutions provider Hulft.

Eminox Ltd, which designs and manufactures high performance stainless steel exhaust and emission control systems picked up gold in the Business Growth and Strategy award, sponsored by RSM and was highly commended in the Sustainability category.

Judges of the Business Growth and Strategy category described the entry as “An exceptionally strong winner, this company had very impressive and bold planning structures in place, and the determination to take opportunities from changes within their market place. The company set out its approach clearly including the various steps taken regarding capital investment, process improvement, people development, and customer penetration. The results to date were described as showing good progress and substantive growth.”

In the Sustainability category, judges commented, “This company provided a textbook case of consistency over time. By constant innovation over 25 years they have shown that persistence pays in delivering a product that will have made a significant dent in local air pollution. Clear targets and measurements are an indicator of the professional approach taken over this extended period of time – with many more years of positive impact on the local environment to come.”

Tom Morgan, partner and manufacturing lead in the Midlands at RSM, said: ‘Despite challenging trading conditions, resilience from manufacturers based in the Midlands is clear to see and the sector remains strong. Many are embracing developments in technology and infrastructure to support strategic growth; develop talent; and strengthen the sector. We look forward to celebrating these successes whilst recognising the key achievements of regional individuals and businesses that are spearheading change at this year’s Make UK manufacturing awards.’

Russell Kirby, Senior Director, Business Development EMEA at Hulft said. “Britain is one of the world's biggest manufacturing nations, and it is a great privilege to be working with MAKE UK to help support and champion UK manufacturing. The sector is facing significant change, as a result of what is being referred to as the 4th industrial revolution, and it is important that businesses are given the right opportunities to properly position themselves for the future. We are looking forward to getting out to meet MAKE UK’s members and being part of such an important and credible awards programme.”

Winners will now go forward to the national finals to be judged in London in December.
