Lightfoot's driver technology slashes accidents by 45% and cuts fuel bill by 10%

Van and light truck operator Amberon Group has seen a 45% reduction in accidents and a 10% cut in its fuel bills, after installing Lightfoot’s technology across its fleet of 800 commercials.

The traffic management provider has also seen a reduction in the severity of accidents.

It's all due to a 'transformation in driver psychology', says Amberon Group Transport Manager, John Welch.

The implementation of Lightfoot’s in-cab driver feedback and driver rewards platform has changed driver behaviour. As a result, the business is now well on course to reducing its insurance premiums.

“We’ve used telematics solutions in the past,” says Mr Welch. “Drivers looked at the vehicle as a tool to do the job and no more. The engagement piece of the puzzle was missing.

"Now, with Lightfoot, that’s changed. There has been as psychological change in the relationship between our drivers and their vehicles, enabled by Lightfoot’s driver rewards, benefits and league platform.

“Lightfoot has given our drivers a badge to prove they are professional drivers. Their mindset has changed completely.

"Now, we have healthy competition. All our drivers have smartphones and compare their scores on the Lightfoot app and, as a result, accidents ratios have almost halved.

"Accidents are also less severe and, as long as we sustain these changes, our insurers have told us that we can expect a reduction in our premiums.
