Rolec hits its target of 150,000 charging points
Lincolnshire-based Rolec EV has reached the 150,000 electric vehicles (EV) charging points manufactured milestone.
This was met with the installation of an extra point at its factory in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Rolec specialises in designing and manufacturing a wide range of EV charging options.
This milestone was reached after its recent releases of its new WallPod EV: HomeSmart and WallPod EV: SolarCharge ranges.
It is expected that the new additions will boost these sales in the coming months.
The government’s aim is for the UK to be the world leader in its offering of EV charging networks with a 2030 target of having 7m EVs on the road.
Analysis by Deliotte suggests that the UK will need 28,000 public charging points to keep the 2030 circulation of EVs on the road.
Rolec MD Kieron Alsop says: "Hitting the 150,000 EV charge point figure is testament to the increasingly strong uptake of electric vehicles, as well as our comprehensive and industry-leading range of EV charging products.”
Earlier this month, the Government outlined its ambition for all new public rapid charge points the UK to have the option for debit and credit card payments for EV charge points from 2020.
