Robert Veit is to take over as Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vans UK on 1 May 2021.

He succeeds Steve Bridge who left on 1 February to become Managing Director at eStar Truck and Van, a Mercedes-Benz dealership group

Robert Veit is currently Vice-President and Managing Director Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz Vans USA.

“I am happy we could win Robert for our van business in the UK,” says Marcus Breitschwerdt, Executive Vice President Mercedes-Benz AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.

“He did an outstanding job within the US market and I am convinced that his wealth of experience and leadership skills will help to continue to drive our business ambition forward in the UK market.”

Paying tribute to Steve, Marcus Breitschwerdt said: “He is one of the most influential figures of the UK commercial vehicle industry and made Mercedes-Benz Vans in the UK a huge success. Thanks a lot for a great job, Steve, and good luck for your new challenge.”

Robert Veit’s 25 year career

Robert Veit started his career in 1995 as a member of the Management Trainee Group at Mercedes-Benz AG.

In the following years, he worked in different positions within the R&D Department at Passenger Cars.

In 2000, Robert moved to Dubai to take over the role as Regional Sales Manager for Commercial Vehicles.

Three years later, Robert rotated to Russia where he was responsible as Director for the Sales & Marketing Department of Commercial Vehicles. He then held different international managing positions within Sales & Marketing for Commercial Vans in South Korea and China.

In 2012, Robert became President & CEO for Daimler Trucks and Buses in China, where he led and developed a newly formed team for import, wholesale and retail.

Since 2016, Robert has been responsible as Managing Director for Sales and Marketing MB Vans USA, where he built up a new Sales & Marketing organisation in Atlanta.

Amongst this, Roberts’ major achievements in the U.S. includes the implementation of a sales growth strategy, including two of the biggest fleet deals ever for Mercedes-Benz Vans, as well as the development of Van dedication in the Dealer network. These accomplishments have hugely contributed to the continuous and significant market performance increase.

Robert says: “I’m delighted to be joining such a successful team in the U.K. and using my experience to help serve the highly sophisticated van community and ensure that their needs are not only being met, but are being succeeded.

“The van market has proved to be a vital sector in keeping the U.K. moving, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
